Fatma’s Traditional Cooking Class is Back!
Fatma Jahalin, one of the Bedouin women residing near Khan Al Ahmar, extends a warm invitation to her home for a workshop on crafting stuffed animals and savoring vegan Bedouin cuisine. Following the workshop, guests will gather for a shared meal at her "restaurant," named after her young daughter, "Jnan."
Our acquaintance with Fatma and Jnan blossomed during their time at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center, where they were accompanied by the "Friends of Jahalin." Through this connection, we've come to know Fatma as a devoted mother and a skilled cook. Driven by her entrepreneurial spirit, Fatma decided to realize her dream by establishing a restaurant in Khan Al Ahmar, aiming to welcome visitors and travelers to the area.
An expert in traditional Bedouin cooking, Fatma has already hosted numerous groups of travelers at her budding restaurant, treating them to delightful and flavorsome meals. Fatma's venture stands as a testament to female empowerment and personal fulfillment.
During the workshop she hosts, participants can learn the art of crafting traditional stuffed animals alongside the secrets of Bedouin cuisine. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to try their hand at preparing and baking Bedouin pita bread, all while being enveloped in the warm hospitality of the Judean Desert community.
