Traditional Bedouin Cooking Class – Making Stuffed vegetables with Fatma Jahalin

During the Hanukkah holiday, Fatma Jahalin, a Bedouin woman residing near Khan Al Ahmar, graciously invites you to a workshop on Bedouin stuffing and cuisine. Following the workshop, guests will gather for a meal at her modest yet charming shed-turned-restaurant named after her daughter, "Jnan."

We became acquainted with Fatma and Jnan through the "Friends of Jahalin" organization, which supported them during their treatment at Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Through this, we came to know Fatma as both a devoted mother and a skilled cook. Fueled by her entrepreneurial spirit, Fatma decided to realize her dream of establishing a restaurant in Khan Al Ahmar to welcome visitors and travelers to the area.

An expert in traditional Bedouin cooking, Fatma has already hosted numerous groups of travelers at her budding restaurant, treating them to delightful and flavorful meals. Fatma's restaurant stands as a beacon of female empowerment and personal fulfillment.

During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn the art of crafting traditional stuffed dishes and uncover the secrets of Bedouin cooking. Additionally, they'll have the chance to try their hand at preparing and baking Bedouin pita bread, all while basking in the warm hospitality of the Judean Desert community.

The workshop will take place in Khan Al Ahmar, offering a unique and enriching cultural experience.
