פרטי האירוע
For years now, the small Bedouin village, located on the way down from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea, has been in the headlines. The State of Israel, with the backing of Gush Edumim settlers and the Regavim Association, wants to destroy the village and deport the residents. The goal: Jewish takeover of the territory and its dismemberment by Jewish settlements while pushing the Palestinians out of the area. If the plan succeeds, it will be a de facto annexation of the entire area.
Today, over 2,000 Bedouins live in the Red Area, most of them from the Jahalin tribe, some from the Kaabana tribe - all of them have demolition and eviction orders for the houses they live in.
On 1.6 there will be another hearing in Bagets on the petition submitted by "Regavim" to evict the village. The state has already asked for a postponement nine times in giving its answer and for the tenth time it will arrive when it is led by the extremist elements who are now sitting as ministers in the government. The village is again in significant danger before deportation.
On a tour guided by Yael Moab, a teacher and an activist in the "Friends of the Jahalin" association, we will observe the area, visit Khan Al Ahmar, meet the villagers, visit the school built of mud and tires, hope to meet Eid Abu Hamis, the community's spokesman, and enjoy Bedouin hospitality for dinner Lunch at one of the families.
The price of the tour is NIS 50 per participant (any amount can be donated).
All proceeds will be transferred to the family hosting the lunch and thus we will also help their livelihood.
