Nasreen's graduation celebrations and encouraging education

Supporting education for girls and women

Nasrin Abu Khamis, who graduated from high school in Jericho and successfully passed her exams, has enrolled in university to study teaching and will try to fulfill her dream - to return to the elementary school, built from mud and tires, where she studied in Khan al-Ahmar.

Many of the girls and boys in the Jahalin communities do not continue their studies in high school, and only a select few manage to continue on to university. Especially the women. In fact, Nasreen is set to be the first Jahalin student to return to school after completing her academic studies, this time as a teacher. But to study at university, she needed a laptop. A product that is considered basic in almost every home in Israel, but among the Jahalin - absolutely not.

Jahalin's friends rallied around and purchased a laptop for her to use during her school years. All with the goal of encouraging more girls and boys to obtain an education and for Sansrin to serve as a good example of this.

It is precisely for such actions that our friends at Jahalin need us. Part of the money raised will allow us to donate scholarships and education to provide the support and conditions necessary for girls and boys to acquire an education and skills from which they can earn a living in the future.
